Overview

Balmoral Tanks Limited is a leading UK design, manufacturer, and installer of a range of industrial storage tanks used in many key industries in the UK and in many countries around the world. Business revenue growth in the years 2021 – 2025 has more than doubled, driven by the company’s ability to target new market sectors, which align with its strategic capabilities. Export growth 2021-2025 increased from £7m to £24m in their last published accounts.

In October 2025, the business opened a manufacturing facility in Ohio, something they had been working on long before tariff’s presented themselves in the US, and the ambition for the period 2026-2030 includes further growth as a result of additional products and services, coupled with the growth potential in key market sectors across the globe; namely, data-centres, carbon capture, and land based aquaculture systems.

Balmoral Tanks strategic pillars include employee engagement, which the business believes is fundamental to past and future success. It invests heavily in leadership development to ensure its leadership team commit to continuous learning when it comes to supporting their people. As the only manufacturing company in the world (according to BSI) to be accredited with BSI kitemark for service, the business says service is its differentiator over the competition. Balmoral doesn’t see service as a department, more of an attitude that
permeates the entire business, regardless of job role.

This tour offers the chance to see the changes behind those numbers — the decisions, the trade-offs, the cultural shifts, and the lessons learned along the way.

  • Automated Estimating System:
How Balmoral built and continue to develop an estimating system which allows it to deliver over 500 quotes per month. The system output includes 3D models and is being trialled with one its major customers to allow them to create their own estimates at a time that is convenient to them.
  • Leadership & Team Ownership:
The investment in leadership development which caters for leaders who are early into their leadership journey through to more experienced leaders. The leadership development is aligned with the behaviours Balmoral feel are important when it comes to their core values.
  • Digitisation – Productivity through Technology
One of our 4 pillars, Productivity through Technology is driving innovative ideas to improve safety, productivity and reduce the opportunity for human error whilst making it a better place to work. This has been through simple CI activities on test jigs, to the introduction of automated CNC equipment.
  • The journey to a Paperless factory:
The move towards a paperless factory includes the introduction of tablets for end of line inspection, output recording, start-up check lists and maintenance requests. A material control system, is in trial at our sister facility in Llantrisant which will also digitise production records, cycle counts and the warehouse picking activities.

Tours are delivered in small groups so each point of improvement can be explained clearly and candidly.
